About the solar installation.

The specifications for the solar instalation are as follows:

• Installer: Namaste Electric - great job done by these guys I would highly recomend them to anyone looking to go solar.
• 4.2 Kw system.
• Inverter 240V SunPower SPR-4000m
• Panels 20x210 W SunPower PV Modules
• Grid Tied System
• System went live on January 7, 2008

I did look at 3 different Solar Installers before settling on Namaste.  All gave very viable systems but I decided to go with Namaste for a variety of reasons.  I had heard of them locally from others that had gone solar.  They gave a very good initial demonstration and great due dilligence.  They agreed to float the rebate of $4.50/watt from the local electric utiltiy Xcel Energy.

I will be posting up the usage and generation number for all to see how well this project does over time.

I also had the windows updated to double pane from the initial single pane.  That will help in both summer and winter.  In summer the main facing south window now has a solar tint and so should really help with summer heating issues.  In winter I should not bleed as much heat out through the windows.......
